5. Thrombin time of inhibitor-depleted plasmaTo determine whether prolongation of the thrombin time of plasma by the monoclonal IgG requires antithrombin (or heparin cofactor II), we conducted experiments with plasma from which each inhibitor had been removed by immunoabsorption.
The IgG had no effect on the thrombin time of antithrombin-depleted plasma but prolonged the thrombin time of both HCII-depleted plasma and parent plasma (i.e., the plasma prior to immunodepletion).
Therefore, prolongation of the thrombin time of plasma by the monoclonal IgG requires antithrombin.
